An extraordinary feature that explores a young Montreal boy's surreal visualisation of his family and surroundings, he is convinced that his mum was impregnated not by his dad, but by an Italian tomato, and his escape through reading the book 'L'avalée des avalés' by Canadian novelist Réjean Ducharme. His dysfunctional family are bizarre, but director Lauzon vests them with real warmth, and Leolo's strange sexual obsessions are focused on Bianca his beautiful and unobtainable neighbour. A delightful drama.
